Talos Rules 2024-09-26
This release adds and modifies rules in several categories.

Talos is releasing Snort coverage to protect against an unauthenticated command execution vulnerability in the CUPS service found on multiple Linux distributions (CVE-2024-47177). This vulnerability is present in the “cups-filters” part of CUPS and allows unauthenticated users to execute arbitrary commands via the “FoomaticRIPCommandLine” PPD parameter. Snort 3 and Snort 2 coverage for this vulnerability is available through SID 64051.

Talos has added and modified multiple rules in the and server-other rule sets to provide coverage for emerging threats from these technologies.
